Wikipedia : This day (June 16, 1952), in Montreal, Quebec, is born Gino Vannelli, an Italian-Canadian singer, songwriter, musician and composer.
Gino Vannelli : Gino’s first foray into pop music came one afternoon as a group of young drummers stood in line, waiting to take turns to audition for a Montreal East group called the Cobras.
@allmusic : Ranging from soul to soft rock, singer and songwriter Vannelli earned several hits during the 1970s, including People Gotta Move and I Just Wanna Stop.
@last.fm : Gino eventually went to Los Angeles, California where he signed with Herb Alpert’s A&M Records, releasing his first album with that record label in 1973. Gino’s brother, Joe, served as arranger and keyboardist for most of his recording career.
