@allmusic : Originally greatly influenced by Bill Evans and to a lesser extent Keith Jarrett, Petrucciani developed his own individual voice. He started by playing in the family band with his guitarist father and bassist brother.

Jazz Professional : On January 6th, 1999, Michel Petrucciani passed away in Manhattan at the age of 36, from a pulmonary infection. At the time of his death Dreyfus Records were readying a release documenting Michel’s 1997 solo tour of Europe.

@last.fm : He moved to the US in 1982. In the US he is credited with leading Charles Lloyd to resume playing actively and in 1986 he did an album with Wayne Shorter.
