On October 9, 1989, two days before his 70th birthday, Art Blakey took his Jazz Messengers to the Leverkusen Jazz festival in Germany.

The concert turned out to be a special event when ex Messengers joined the party. From the Fifties / Sixties line-ups : Benny Golson, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Jackie McLean. From the Eighties : Terence Blanchard and Donald Harrison.

When Benny Goodman played New-York

Four occasions, three years : 1985, 1974 and 1938 "When Benny Goodman played New-York".

"Concert One" that he played during the tribute he received eight months before his death, at the Broadway Ballroom (yes, people were dancing to jazz then) of the newly opened Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Two, a more intimate concert performed in 1974 at the Rainbow Room on the top of the RCA Building.

The "concert Three" that he gave at Carnegie Hall in January of the same year, celebrating the 36th anniversary of his legendary 1938 concert ("concert Four" in audio only) at the same spot.
