Yes she did things a little different this time but the guitar and vocals that are on this album continue to show just how good she really is. A little less of the Jazz that is mixed the blue licks that she does so well as on other works but the blues style that comes thoough on this album really kicks.
The album’s title track spawned from those hot, oppressive summer days last August when Popovic said the only relief was heading out in the evening to dance at the juke joints. But Can You Stand the Heat is a double entendre.
