El DeBarge : The sixth of ten DeBarge children, El DeBarge’s signature falsetto anchored sixteen Top 10 hits, both with the family group, DeBarge (“All This Love,” “I Like It,” “Time Will Reveal”) and as a solo artist (“Rhythm of the Night,” “Who’s Holding Donna Now”). In 1990, El teamed up with Quincy Jones to create the unforgettable smash The Secret Garden, which also featured Barry White, Al B. Sure!, and James Ingram.

El DeBarge @allmusic : After leaving the group in 1985, he launched his solo career in 1986 with a self-titled debut album that featured the number three hit Who’s Johnny?, featured in the film Short Circuit.

El DeBarge @last.fm : After the commercial pop success of “Rhythm of the Night,” El left the group in 1986 to begin a solo career. The same year, El released his self-titled debut solo album. “Who’s Johnny” was the first single released and was featured in the movie Short Circuit. The single was a major success, peaking at #3 in the U.S.
