Wikipedia : This day (December 19, 1949), in New York City, is born Lenny White, an American jazz fusion drummer.
Return to Forever IV: World Tour 2011 : After Return to Forever’s split in 1977, White proved his individual mettle by recording three critically-acclaimed jazz rock records on his own, contributing significantly to a new form of danceable jazz-funk that he describes as “progressive-pop.”
@last.fm : White started his career on top, playing regularly with Jackie McLean (1968) and recording “Bitches Brew” with Miles Davis in 1969. White was soon working with some of the who’s who of jazz including Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw, Gato Barbieri, Gil Evans, Stanley Clarke and Stan Getz among others.
