Wikipedia : This day (December 12, 1957), in Oakland, California is born Sheila Escovedo a.k.a Sheila E. an American drummer and percussionist,
Official Website : In the 1980’s, Sheila’s friend Prince helped to catapult her to her own pop superstardom. Her obvious talent and hits like “The Glamorous Life” and “A Love Bizarre,” plus her pivotal work on other Prince-related projects contributed to her international stardom.
@allmusic : Prince discovered Sheila E. around 1983 and had her sing on Erotic City, the B-side to his number one 1984 single, Let’s Go Crazy.
@last.fm : After leaving the Prince organization in 1989 (she actually had a medical problem-collapsed lung), Sheila recorded a few more albums, Sex Cymbal, Writes of Passage, and Heaven. However, the albums garnered little attention.
