Wikipedia : This day (October 21, 1957), in San Fernando Valley, is born Steve Lukather, an American guitarist and singer, best known for his work with Toto.

Steve Lukather : Just the sound of it overcame my whole soul, if you want to call it that. I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I remember George Harrison played a solo in I saw her standing there and just the sound of the guitar bending and the reverb struck a nerve inside of me. (Lukather, 1993). After playing and touring with Boz Scaggs, David Paich and Jeff Porcaro asked Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, David Hungate and Steve Porcaro in 1976 to join for their own band Toto.

@Facebook : Notable session keyboardist David Paich and session drummer Jeff Porcaro were high school friends with Lukather. They asked Lukather to join in forming their band, Toto, in 1976 when Lukather was nineteen years old. He was a member of Toto from that time until the band split up in 2008. L

@last.fm : Lukather made himself famous by being the most sought-after session guitarist in LA in the 70s and 80s. He would walk into a studio last minute and lay down perfect tracks the first time, in whatever style required. Known to his friends as “Luke” he still records and tours with Toto (2005) and continues to be an in-demand studio player and producer.
