INFORMATIONS

The Makin’ Whoopee – Page!: As a very big fan of the song “Makin’ Whoopee” I searched for it and found many different song-interpretations. I wanted to play it myself on the guitar – the search for the right chords took me nearly 2 years (it just didn’t sound right! But I think it does now).

info.net : After the War, Donaldson joined the Irving Berlin, Inc., Music Publishers, staying for 10 years. While working with Berlin, he wrote a great many of his finest hits. He stayed with Belin until 1928, when he left to found his own music publishing firm, Donaldson, Douglas and Gumble.

Answers.com : During the Roaring ’20s, songwriter Walter Donaldson saluted the traditional, down-home aspects of American life, not only with songs like “My Mammy,” “My Blue Heaven,” “Isn’t She the Sweetest Thing,” “My Baby Just Cares for Me,” and “Love Me or Leave Me,” but also with his parade of state-themed (usually Southern) songs

rateyourmusic.com : My Blue Heaven does the trick, as far as gathering all the Fats Domino hits a non-fanatic would ever care to own. It was released in the early ’90s, so I’m sure the sound quality can be topped by more recent CD compilations.

jazz.com : Leave my house! a cantor banishes his musically wayward son, played by Al Jolson in Hollywood’s The Jazz Singer (1927). At the film’s finale, Jolson—now a famous blackface entertainer—genuflects to one knee to milk the pathos of “My Mammy.”

Jazz Professional : Art Pepper says :”Yeah—I manage okay! Without Laurie, I would never be here right now, I know that. I would either be in a coffin, or stashed away doing a life sentence some place. Or running and hiding some place, if I was still alive. I’m certain I wouldn’t be playing music.”

The Majesty of Dinah : Although her speech and pronunciation was, when speaking, shoddy and decidedly colloquial .. her song presentation was sterling .. her diction impeccable. There is but one mistake she is known to have made … (her second recording of her #2 all-time hit I Wanna Be Loved … in which she transposes the plural noun in the phrase … when our heartbeats intermingle .. hearts beat intermingle (passable poetry)

Buddy Greco Fanpage : Sun: Buddy, how long have you been in Vegas? BG: I’ve been working in Vegas off and on for more than 50 years. Las Vegas has been very, very good to me. My career took off here. I have made a lot of money here. I have made a lot of friends. We’re going to miss all our friends.
