Wikipedia : This day ( March 19, 1960), in São Paulo, Brazil, is born Eliane Elias, a Brazilian jazz pianist, arranger, vocalist and songwriter.

Official Site : Her first album release was a collaboration with Randy Brecker entitled Amanda in 1984. Shortly thereafter her solo career began, spanning over twenty albums to date.

@Facebook : A former member of jazz ensemble Steps Ahead, Elias has continued to explore two distinct musical streams through her solo recordings and her performances since the mid-’80s.

@last.fm : Eliane then moved to New York and studied privately with Olegna Fuschi at the Julliard School of Music, eventually joining jazz supergroup Steps Ahead (whose members included Eddie Gomez, Michael Brecker, Peter Erskine and Mike Mainieri).

@Discogs : Herbie Hancock said this of her: Eliane is a rare talent. She is of a new generation of aggressive pianists that attack music like a lioness attacking its prey, at the same time expressing a tenderness within the core of her passion that at times has brought me to tears. She never seems to run out of inventive ideas.
